Who are We?

The Academy of Gastronomy Japan (AGJ) is a member of the International Academy of Gastronomy (IAG), a non-profit association headquartered in Levallois-Perret, France founded in 1983, whose mission is to protect and develop regional and national cultures and their culinary heritage as well as to encourage creativity in the modern art of cooking.

Twenty-six Academies from around the world have become members of IAG with Japan being the first member from Asia.

AGJ's primary mission is to work in association with and under the guidance of IAG to develop, enhance and promote the culinary heritage and culture of Japan and for this purpose, distinguished individuals from various fields have joined AGJ as members to further the mission.
