What is the International Academy of Gastronomy (IAG)?

The purpose of IAG, a non-profit association headquartered in Levallois-Perret, France, is to protect and develop regional and national cultures and their culinary heritage as well as to encourage creativity in the modern art of cooking. It was established over 30 years ago and it now has 28 Academy members from 23 countries.

IAG conducts international research and studies regarding food in general but in particular with gastronomy in order to advise and submit policy proposals to official and private organizations.

IAG has partnered with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and also has collaborative relationships with organizations such as the WHO, UNESCO and EU in order to support and to promote initiatives related to gastronomy in the cultural, educational, nutritional and touristic fields.

IAG bestows awards, hosts and sponsors events and research initiatives in addition to other international initiatives in order to further its objectives.
